Vincent Van Gogh

(1853 - 1890)

So much has been written about Van Gogh that it seems futile trying to add more to this already large collection of reviews and blogs. At the same time, it is impossible not to include in our selection this much troubled artist, who originally wanted to be a preacher, but eventually became perhaps the most recognizable painter of the modern era. Paintings in this selection are arranged in a loose sequence, beginning with Vincent's early works, and ending with those he painted in the last year of his short life, which was spent mostly in the mental hospital.
